Chase Bank Fail: “Use IE6″
Every once in a while, you see a bank Web site does something so stupid that it has its visitors scratching their heads. This article explains that if you’re using Chase Bank, you had better be using Internet Explorer.
That’s right. It appears that you must utilize IE6 or above to be a Chase online customer. Thankfully, my bank isn’t this foolish and works with any browser I choose. The idea that Chase is asking people to use IE6 and above is insane. To be fair, it is also supporting Firefox and Safari — just not Chrome.
The comedy is added when you consider the fact that the site is claiming that using IE6 is okay. Better than Chrome? More secure? Not so much, folks. The insanity of banks still embracing IE6 as part of the browsers being recommended is dangerous and needs to stop.
All browsers, not just IE, Safari, and Firefox should be supported. Perhaps even more important, we need to stop giving out the okay for support of IE6. It’s dangerous and stupid.
