Pin Search Operations To Jump Lists In Windows 7
New in Windows 7 are Jump Lists. Some people see Jump Lists as being the same thing as the Recent Documents list. However, Jump Lists provide more functionality. They provide you with quick access to documents and tasks associated with applications. In other word, Jump Lists are like mini Start menus specific to individual applications.
In a previous series of articles entitled Jump on Jump Lists in Windows 7, you learned about some of the basic tips for working with Jump Lists, such as increasing the number of items on Jump Lists and pinning an item to a program’s Jump List. However, there are several other ways to configure Jump Lists to make them even more useful.
If you frequently search for specific files, you can pin the search operation to the Windows Explorer Jump List.
- Within Windows Explorer, type in the search operation you want to pin to the Jump List.
- Once the search results appear, click the Save Search button.
- From the Navigation pane, drag and drop it onto the Windows Explorer icon on the Taskbar.
Going forward, you can access the search from the Windows Explorer Jump List.
