Schedule Media Center Downloads In Windows 7

If you’ve ever use Windows Media Center, you know how much bandwidth can be consume when downloading data. Try using the Internet in the middle of a download and you may see a drop in performance as the download consumes the majority of your bandwidth.

In Windows 7, you can now configure Windows Media Center to download data at a specific time such as during the day while you’re at work or overnight. Doing so prevents media centre downloads from using all your bandwidth during your peak times.

To configure Windows Media Center download to occur at a specific time:

1. Click Start, type Media Center and press Enter.
2. The Windows Media Center window appears. Click Continue.
3. From the Tasks menu, click Settings.
4. Click General and then Automatic Download Options.
5. Set the start and stop times. This tells Windows Media Center during which times data can be automatically downloaded.
6. Click Save.
