I'll say the one type of ad I find completely offensive, and a security threat to boot are the ones that resize your browser, control your session, and completely ignore the preferences set in your browser (ie open new windows in tabs, do not resize windows, et al) are the ones I block. If you want ads, make them unobtrusive, non-irritating, and relevant to me. If I'm reading content about Storage management, feel free to serve some ads about Storage solutions. If I read an article about Content presentation, sure, I'll probably click through to an ad about website SEO. But, if I'm reading about SEO, what in god's name makes you think I'm interested in Netflix? Or a "male enhancement pill"? And, since I'm a techie, you should know not to give me a pop-up (Or under).
