Windows XP To Windows 7 For Twenty Dollars?
By now, news of Laplink’s offering has been hitting the Web all over the place. And considering the costly alternative, I suspect we will see a number of anxious individuals jumping all over this. To be honest, any solution that means that XP users can painlessly switch from XP to Windows 7 is going to be a home run for those looking to upgrade.
While it is true that those who are content with XP will not likely give Laplink the same kind of attention, I can think of a number of anxious individuals who are going to be quite excited about the prospect of making the change without having to jump through unneeded hoops rather than making a straight upgrade.
At a cost of US $20, folks wanting to make to take their installed software along with their user data over to the new Windows release would be wise to take Laplink up on its cheap offer. Honestly, the only three groups of people who might not be interested are those who are…
- Happy with XP with no plans of moving to Win 7.
- Switching to OS X or Linux.
- Planning on doing a completely clean install of their legacy software when they make the switch to Win7 later on.
- PNY GeForce 9500 GT 1024MB PCI-Express 2.0 VGA + DVI Graphics Card VCG951024GXEB

I just checked with Laplink tech support and they told me the cost is $59 and the special pc mover version will be out at approximately the same time as Win 7 is released.

What about outside of the US. WIll there be any kind of support for those who are in Canada as well that could get that kind of pricing to upgrade from windows XP to windows 7 Painlessly. Even though I use a distro of Ubuntu linux Like Ultimate edition ubuntu on two other machines. like a laptop and a secondary workstation as a backup to my main machine. There should always be a good alternative for something like this fro everyone.
