When you think hyperlinks in PowerPoint, you probably think Web pages. However, hyperlinks in PowerPoint can do more than just connect to Web pages. You can create hyperlinks to connect to slides in the same or in different presentations. For example, if an object or text refers to content on another slide, you can easily jump to that slide by creating and clicking the hyperlink.
To create a hyperlink to connect to another slide in your presentation using PowerPoint 2002:
- Within PowerPoint, switch to Normal view.
- Select the text or object that you want to hyperlink.
- Click the Insert menu.
- Click Hyperlink.
- Under Link to, select Place in This Document.
- Under Select a place in this document, click the slide that you want to use as the hyperlink destination.
- Click OK.
Hyperlinks in PowerPoint can also be used to link to slides in different presentations. Instead of having to manually switch to another presentation and locate the appropriate slide, you can create a hyperlink to the slide. To create a hyperlink to connect to a slide in a different presentation in PowerPoint 2002:
- Within PowerPoint, switch to Normal view.
- Select the text or object that you want to hyperlink.
- Click the Insert menu.
- Click Hyperlink.
- Under Link to, click Existing File or Web Page.
- Browse to and select the presentation that contains the slide that you want to link to.
- Click the Bookmark button.
- The Select Place in Document window will appear. Select the title of the slide that you want to link to. Click OK.
- Click OK.
In addition, you can also create a hyperlink to an email address. This might be useful if you are looking for feedback or want to receive questions regarding a presentation. You can create a hyperlink to your email address and when someone clicks the hyperlink, Outlook will open a new mail message pre-populated with your address.
To create a hyperlink to an email address:
- Within PowerPoint, switch to Normal view.
- Select the text or object that you want to hyperlink.
- On the Insert tab, within the Links group, click Hyperlink.
- Under Link to, click Email address.
- In the E-mail address box, type the e-mail address that you want to link to, or in the Recently used e-mail addresses box, click an e-mail address.
- In the Subject box, type the subject of the e-mail message.
- Click OK.
