PR Mistakes Of The Past – Time To Look To The Future?
I have been amongst those who have been really critical about how craptastic AT&T’s handling of its poor network performance has been. Now before I go off on the negative once again, let me point out the areas where AT&T is making improvements.
AT&T has a significant social media presence… even staffed by real people. These videos that have been coming out do a good job at explaining why things suck pretty royally right now with the AT&T network. So overall, while it is fair to point out that AT&T took too long to respond to the shoddy network performance, it is clearly working like mad to atone for its past mistakes.
Now for the biggest issue of all. I am not totally clear as to how AT&T can honestly sit there and say that it is not screwing its users. Clearly, it should have released Apple from its exclusivity contract the minute it realized that the iPhone’s data usage was too much for its system.
Yes, its fine print likely covers its butt from a lawful point of view, but on the side of customer satisfaction, AT&T has made its bed in keeping people in contracts despite poor network performance. And should the iPhone ever become free of AT&T, you will see its mobile business take a nose dive that will make its existing problems seem like spilled milk.
