If you worked through the steps presented in Part II, you now know how to give someone else access to your calendar. Another common use for the Delegates feature is to let someone else manage your email. This way your delegate can filter your email so you only see the important messages.
As mentioned previously, you can control the type of access a delegate has to your email. For example, if you do not want the delegate modifying or creating messages on your behalf, you can assign the individual Reviewer permission.
To delegate access to your Inbox in Outlook 2007:
- Within Outlook, click on the Tools menu and select Options. The Options dialog box will appear.
- Select the Delegates tab.
- Click the Add button. The Add Users dialog box will appear.
- Type in the name of the user to whom you want to delegate permission.
- Click Add.
- Click OK. The Delegate Permissions dialog box appears.
- Click the drop down arrow beside the Inbox option and select the appropriate option. For example, select the Reviewer option to allow the individual the ability to read your email.
- Click OK.
If you are apprehensive about delegating another user access, remember that sharing is a positive behavior and in this case, one that can relieve a heavy workload.
