Would Summary In Windows Explorer Please Standup?

Honestly this seems simple enough, in Vista one should be able to open up Windows Explorer.

Right click on the bar where the sorting options are present, click on more.
It will open up the “Choose details” window.
Scroll down the list and put a check mark on “Summary”
Click on OK.

Sadly I have one person that has been struggling with this for awhile now and no change is in sight. I even sent over a few different Microsoft Official how-tos. Yet despite this attempt, it seems that with every attempt, the affected individual is reporting back the following.

Following the details in the link you just provided, all I get is a new column labeled “SUMMARY” in Windows Explorer.
I don’t get a new tab labeled “SUMMARY” in which to add my personal comment.

I have no problem creating a COMMENTS column in Windows Explorer but cannot add my own personal comments to in this column.

Now keep in mind that the affected individual is no newbie. They are quite comfortable with hacking a registry, etc. And yet the solution to this continues to elude! Seriously, if anyone out there has any ideas, I would appreciate being able to pass on along a working solution.

One Comment

No idea about the summary, but comments can be added in programs that support the file properties ADS, (Alternate Data Streams) such as the Office programs, and they will show up in the comments column. The details tab also has a place to edit comment, tags, etc. I believe there are some third party tool like 4NT that can also manipulate them.
