MSI X-Slim Series Is Cheek Worthy

There was a time when I was a huge fan of many of MSI products. Not saying that they were the best, but overall I felt good about many of its motherboards, CD-ROMs, and some of other MSI technology items available. Today, I am a bit confused.

Clearly, the value of today’s notebooks has nothing to do with their speed, processing power, or battery life. No, it is all about how easy one can catch them with their backsides. This is the new consumer concern… I guess?

In all seriousness, I was able to determine that the above video is actually for a video contest being featured at the MSI X-Slim Series Web site. And once I visited the anti-Web standards nightmare that MSI is currently referring to as a product page, I actually found many of its entry videos to be less obnoxious than trying to figure out why the new MSI notebook is being hounded by surfboards and palm trees.

Why is it that so many good companies make such STUPID marketing blunders? The videos and the video contest, fine. Some are funny, others have me feeling really uncomfortable around my notebook. Whatever. But for the love of Pete, stop filling product Web pages with so much Flash that it makes most people want to gag themselves with their mouse! News flash, folks: a good product does not need to be demonstrated on page one with a pure, Flash-based Web page. I am sorry, but this is Web design 101 stuff!
