Regular maintenance keeps your computer running smoothly. Unfortunately, many people either forget or simply do not take the time to do the maintenance tasks. The end result is a sluggish computer
Regular computer maintenance includes deleting files you no longer need. This does not mean you need to scavenge your hard drives looking for old, unused files. Instead, you can run the Disk Cleanup tool to get rid of any old files that you no longer need. Doing so can free up a significant amount of hard disk space and help your computer run faster. To make it even easier, you can schedule Disk Cleanup to run automatically.
To schedule Disk Cleanup in Windows 7:
- Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and click Task Scheduler.?
- Click Create Basic Task.
- Type a name for the task and an optional description.
- Click Next.
- To select a schedule based on the calendar, click Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or One time.
- Click Next.
- Select the date and time for which you want the task to run. Click Next.
- Click Start a program and click Next.
- Click Browse.
- Type cleanmgr.exe in the File name box and click Open.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
