Is MySpace Really That Bad?

As I am about ready to kill off my own dying MySpace account since I just don’t waste my time with that poorly coded nightmare any longer; I am not all that sure that Facebook is much better. Still, this article seems to feel that the variables that play into why people choose Facebook over MySpace have something to do with stuff other than the fact that MySpace themes are the new browser killer.

As for Facebook, I still find myself using it, but not with the same frequency that I use Twitter. So what category would I fall into? I prefer Twitter over the other two. Clearly I am not trashy enough to be sucked into that mess known as MySpace, yet all of the crap quizzes and other junk of Facebook can also prove annoying.

So what say you? If you were to choose a single social networking site, which of the three mentioned would you select? Hit the comments and share your favorite!

Wordpress to my Twitter and facebook my space sites are pretty ugly!

Of the three? Twitter, then Myspace and last, Facebook

MySpace is my first choice. Twitter with the blow by blow reporting of effluvia is simply annoying. No, I do not need to know what people had for breakfast, when they are taking Fido to the vet or how long the checkout line is at WalMart. Facebook entries are too short on the whole to be interesting plus they are filled to the brim with pointless time wasting features. Can you find mindless time sucking apps and quizzes on MySpace? Yes, but you need not be bombarded with them unless you choose to do so. MySpace coding is annoying but as to the “browser killing” themes, why use them. My own space on MySpace is customized but not overly busy, I’ll leave that to the tweens and the esthetically challenged.

I heard someone refer to MySpace as the “Detroit of the Internet.” Personally, I like Twitter.

Out of those I think Facebook suits my use best… It’s simply fun to connect with my old friends and all that. I’m not expecting much more than that and I’m not expecting any sort of work professionalism, just entertainment. Sure, the quizzes are annoying, but I can ignore them…

I use MySpace a little, but on a slow, overseas connection it’s pretty painful. And there aren’t nearly as many of my friends on it as on Facebook, so there’s less point.

I use Facebook and prefer it to myspace and all those apps opening on myspace.
It could slow down the fastest computer in the world and my kids have given my computer viruses (thank God for a/v software) just getting on myspace!

First twitter then facebook. Myspace is total BS. I left it a few months ago, so much happier!

I don’t Twitter.
I contact friends through EMail, Facebook, or LiveJournal

Facebook is by far the best out of those for many reasons. It allows you to customise it in so many ways so that it gives you what you need; if you don’t want certain app notifications you can disable them and I’ve not even started on the privacy features. Myspace however is just too disorganised and doesn’t really offer the same experience. The only reason I can think to use it is to check a bands page for new information and songs, and even that is going out the window.

MySpace is dead to me.

It is amazing to see how many people have an actual addiction to social networking. My girlfriend loves going on to other peoples profiles just to keep tabs on them. I think it should be called paparazziforthemasses.com.

I am amazed even more about the amount of money that was invested into buying out Myspace so recently and there really has been nothing done to improve the site or intrigue anyone to actually use the website. Guess they spent all their money just buying the name up front and could not afford any talent to take the site to the next level.

We are working on getting our Twitter page established as our website grows. I don’t think I have fully grasped its full potential and how to utilize it most effectively. Hopefully we will get to that point soon… I long Twitter.

I use Myspace maybe once a week or so, but I keep it simple like poster Karen Bristow does. I don’t have a bunch of apps running, so the site is just as fast as any other I use. Basically, I just use it to stay in touch with a few friends.

I don’t have the time to mess with Twitter and all the constant postings about this, that, and everything, and Facebook keeps changing things like its terms, 3rd party marketing, etc., so for right now MySpace is fine for me.

Myspace was (an still is) my first choice since all I do is keep in touch with some long distance friends and former co-workers. For the last 4 months many of the pages are loaded with junk apps and such. social networking is fine, but I have no use for the ’social mining’ all the mindless quiz apps on facebook want. My time is valuable to me and I do not care for the all the phony glitz in the periphery. I agree with Karen that I do not care how long the line is in sprawlmart, nor when someone feels the need to tweet a bowel movement. Until Myspace becomes solidly jammed and un-usable I still prefer it over the other two.

On a side note, I wonder myself, does anyone really fall for the ‘this is not a joke’ or ‘her IQ is 88 - can you beat that ?’ crap that seems to occupy these type of sites ?

Can I pick none of the above?

Only if you go to it or are besieged by its users.

What Do You Think?
