Buying Twitter Followers

So what do you think about the concept of purchasing Twitter followers? If you are like most people, you might find the idea to be a bit shady… and that is putting it mildly. Despite these feelings, it appears that services such as uSocial are popping up.

Apparently uSocial is a service that allows Twitter users interested in purchasing followers relating to a specific topic, idea, etc. — something that is fairly easily to do. Personally, I think the idea is fine. Unfortunately, I am concerned about services like this being potentially abused.

Yet at the same time, if used responsibly, services like uSocial could be a tremendous time saver. After all, Twitter is about networking with like minded individuals. To that end, even though the idea of buying followers is rather shifty, I guess it is something that at the very least is something open to debate.

If relationships can be bought (isn’t that whtat uSocial is offering?) then can you sue your followers when they stop following? After all you paid for their attention.

I think that counts as cheating, as the whole point of following somebody is that you find them interesting. If people can buy followers, it defeats the purpose of Twitter.

If they’re THAT desperate for an entourage, let them pay!

Pretty sad, when you think about it.

“Jimmy doesn’t have any friends, so he bought some.”

It’s is not so bad. I think everyone will accept after asked if they would like to be “bought” to follow them.

Isn’t the whole point of Twitter is that your followers like your content and that’s why they follow you? People get satisfaction from getting more followers because that means more people are liking what they have to say. If you buy more followers then your just getting a stat not real people who care about what you say. I would rather have 200 followers who cared then 10,000 fake ones.
