VNC With SSH In Windows

Surely there is an easier way to do this? I mean, I have been using SSH with X forwarding in Linux for what seems like years now and I just do not remember it being this difficult. Sure, to be fair this article is from, like, 2005. And last time I checked, no one is using Cygwin anymore. Yet despite this, here we are. This was the best tutorial I found. Clearly, my search skills must be off because this is just too much crap to wade through.
For the time being, I have been using GoToMyPC with my XP VM install that runs in seamless mode on my Ubuntu notebook. For me, this has been massively easier that trying to configure something secure for Windows. Install it and go. It’s pretty easy.
So even though it is costing me a bit out the door, at least I know that I can get to my parents computer quickly and make sure they are keeping things up to date. In the future, I will be looking into LogMeIn, but I have been hearing mixed stories as to its reliability.

LogMeIn is great for this kind of thing. Even though there is a way to install an RDP server on XP Home, LMI offers more features and seems faster. The best thing being you can have a shared desktop experience for teaching/demonstrations that is far easier than trying to get a user to invoke Remote Assistance.
