Microsoft Surface Is Beginning To Look Pretty Practical

Lately I have been seeing indications that Microsoft Surface is demonstrating real usability. And this recent article has done a great job of clearly showing off what the Surface table can be used for. But rather than merely rattle off about how awesome this technology is, I would rather show you some of the ways Surface is being used in the world today.
Patient Consultation Interface for Texas Health
Above, we see how Surface is used for patient consultation, in the real world, today. Now obviously, I am not really a fan of any single unified “health vault” from Microsoft, Google, or anyone else. But despite this, the ability to share information with Surface is impressive nonetheless.

Again, I am selecting examples where communication is involved rather than weak scenes from some hotel or casino. In the above example, we see kids participating with one another putting together puzzle pieces to simply learning to cooperate with one another in a new and exciting format. As much as I hate to admit it, Surface clearly has a lot to offer select segments of the worldwide marketplace.
Where do I see the biggest hangups? Simple: most doctor’s offices/ hospitals, etc. are not using the very latest technology. And despite promises of this changing, here in the US, it’s just not. So expecting to see something like an investment if Microsoft Surface seems more like a pipe-dream than any sort of likely reality.
