A Gnomie’s Top 5 Reasons That Cloud Computing Is The Future

Just wanted to share this technology.

Is cloud the future of the desktop? I think so, and here are my top five reasons that cloud is the future:

  1. Cloud combines the best of both worlds: the OS + the browser into one single product.
  2. Booting into a cloud machine could mean seconds (depending on Internet connection) instead of minutes. By this point, T1 lines will be available in every home. I say within five years’ time.
  3. The software is built using the same principle as device VM’s splashtop, which works alongside a traditional OS. This means that users of dual OS netbooks running cloud have the option of booting into Windows or another Linux OS for extensive work. (Could we possibly run OS X as well?)
  4. In a cloud environment, desktop apps can be replaced for faster Adobe Air and Google Gear apps with complete integration between multiple cores and the OS.
  5. Cloud is open for customization, meaning users can have access to future APIs for working over the Web in a community-oriented fashion. This feature will be available toward the end of 2009.
