Top Keyboard Shortcuts For PowerPoint

If you use a specific application on a regular basis, it is typically helpful to know some of the application’s shortcuts for getting common tasks done. I spend at least two hours per workday in either Word or PowerPoint and over time have started using some of the shortcuts. Now that I’m familiar with a few of them, they are definitely shortcuts in that they make certain tasks or commands easier (and faster).

If you also use PowerPoint, here are some great shortcuts for getting around the application and your presentation:

  • F5 - Starts a presentation from the beginning
  • N - Moves to the next slide
  • Esc - Ends the slide show
  • Home - Returns to the first slide
  • End - Returns to the last slide
  • P - Moves to the previous slide
  • [slide number] and press Enter - Jumps to the specific slide
  • B - Turns the screen black (press B again to return to the slide)
  • W - Turns the screen white (press W again to return to the slide)

Finally, if you ever need a quick list of shortcuts, press F1 and you can find a list of shortcuts from the Help window.

You left out one of the greatest powerpoint presentations ever - the infamous “Doubletree Powerpoint” presentation, “Yours is a Very Bad Hotel”. Just worth a mention.
