Geeks Rallying For A Good Cause
It’s not often I have an opportunity to do something both geeky and giving without resorting to donating more of the little time I have left anymore. However in this case, my friend Lamarr Wilson, who consults closely with various schools in Chicago, has put out a request for assistance.
Apparently a recent donation of 70 Dell desktops has left the recipients in a bit of a pickle. They came with monitors — likely working ones, at that. Unfortunately, the monitors are HUGE and not truly usable for a school setting due to size restrictions.
My thinking is this: if the existing monitors are working, perhaps someone in the Chicago region can get in touch with Lamarr to potentially work out a trade for good used, smaller monitors? On the national front, the inner-city school he is working with needs 802.11g USB dongles, as well.
Now, I personally do not have any monitors that would be of use to Lamarr, however I do own two near brand new USB 802.11g dongles I will be shipping to him as soon as I get his shipping details (ping me, Lamarr). Both of them are Windows and Linux compatible, so regardless of which method they go with on the OS front, they will be covered either way.
If you would like to lend a hand, please email Lamarr at lwilson(at)lamarrwilson.com and tell him “Matt sent ya.”
