10 Times Faster Than USB 3.0

To be totally honest, the idea of having an external hard drive screaming along at USB 3.0 speeds sounds rather appealing considering the frequency I am using an external hard drive these days. Even pondering the promise of ten times the speed of USB 2.0 is enough to get me drooling in a hurry.

Is it worth upgrading my entire PC for just to make sure I am up to par to enjoy the entire 3.0 experience? I doubt it would be needed, but if it was, I might go so far as to say I would be willing to do it. More than likely, a user will be able to add in any extra goodies needed to utilize USB 3.0 as it comes rolling along.

But still, how far would you go? Is it worth a PC upgrade just for the speed of USB 3.0? I find myself torn, but perhaps others already know where  they stand on this?

is it backwards compatible?

personaly if i had the money i would it is worth it because i am like you i wanting my computer to be the best and the fastest that it posibly can be. the only thing that i do not understan is that when usb 2.0 came out half the world switched to it in about a week but usb 3.0 has been out now for quit a bit but not that many people seem to be switching to it nore is there that many devices being made for it.

The title of the post is incorrect. It should say USB 2.0. I thought someone had already bested the yet to be release USB 3.0 :-)

Eh, I’ll take whatever my computer is capable of. A few extra mb/s isn’t enough to make me want it. It’ll have to run at speeds of say SATA II. If I get that capability on my new machine, I still won’t be able to utilize it without spending $20 extra for that speed on a usb external hard drive. My two disks are usb 2.0 and they work fine at just 20mb/s.

Well…………..Yes,it’d be worth it,but no at the same time.

The cost of a computer these days IS around 400-500 dollars on just basics, but I don’t think I would pay that JUST to get USB 3.0

quick question though: my onboard graphics card went out and s I put a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 cad and it workd just fine…….but when I unplugged it after shutting it off,I plugged everything back in and I can clearly see the computer is running, but for some odd reason, th monitor isn’t displaying anything(P.S. I have reset my BIOS by unplugging my CMOS)

Would there not be a PCI card made available that you could install into your current PC to give you USB 3.0 capability? If not, I wouldn’t bother upgrading a whole motherboard until something else demanded it.

Is this a joke posting?

can anyone tell me plz, that when they didnt achieved 5Gbps speed yet then why all of them are claiming exactly 5Gbps(10times faster) I mean why not 3Gbps or 4Gbps.

What Do You Think?
