The Motorola Aura

As I type this, I am still working to wrap my mind around where the $2000 value of the Motorola Aura is actually coming from. For the price, you might think this is the phone of the future, can be embedded into our skulls or maybe it doubles as something one can justify for two grand? But not, after looking into this phone, you are paying this price because it is “refined” and can produce amazing clarity with its screen. Okay, that is really awesome if this was a TV set, but on a phone, I think I need some help to understand why anyone is seeking this out over something like the iPhone or the G1?

On the one hand, those who lack technical ability yet are wanting something high-end might like this enough I guess. Fixed focus, two MP camera. Nothing special with regard to using some amazing new cellular technology, it the same stuff we use now. But it does come with an assisted swivel to open the phone, that is kind of cool – right?

Two grand for a mobile phone? Clearly, Moto is hitting an audience that is too rich for my blood. I am not trying to knock them down at all here, but honestly, I fail to see why I am interested in buying something like this for swivel action and a stainless battery door. Something is clearly off here…

What Do You Think?
