Bluesnarfing - Should We Worry?

Alright, I would be first to admit that a term like Bluesnarfing sounds like something coming back up after a hard night of partying. Yet in reality, it is significant enough that the United States’ own US-CERT has stated that this form of wireless data snooping is a serious threat.
Should we stop using Bluetooth headsets because of this? Please, give me a break. I am risk of a bigger threat by buying something off of the TV by using my credit card over a cordless phone. Look, the only real threat to using Bluetooth for most people is having your mobile phone’s battery being drained at an alarming rate!
So do you believe that Bluetooth is a real threat to your phone’s security? Are you storing your address, social security number or other critical data on it? Hit the comments and share your thoughts.

Same problem like always - if it’s not correctly configured then it’s insecure.
We are using Bluetooth every day but we have a strict policy how the phones must be configured AND we are performing tests from time to time.
Never ever had a problem with it ;-)

I have sensitive data on my phone. So, I have bluetooth turned off, AND to access anything requires a CAC card. And I’m sure I am the odd case. Most people I know just have friends/family phone numbers. I would as well, except my job requires a little more. On my personal phone, go ahead, steal my contact list. You can do no harm with it.

The problem is not the technology; it is the ignorance and stupidity of the users. No manner of ill-conceived Machiavellian security schemes are going to thwart the actions of the uninformed from spilling their most private and intimate secrets into the waiting arms of opportunistic felons.
Having eliminated most of the Darwinian effects of real life from our society, it is now bloated with hoards of individuals unworthy of surviving in the modern-day Serengeti Plains of our urban culture. We as a society make it worse as we continually act to bail-out the weak-minded from their unavoidable appointment with a modern day version of extinction.

Bluetooth enabled phone: $
Bluejacking software: Open Source
Look on their faces after you’ve stolen their number and called it: Priceless
How else is a geek worth his salt gonna get her number?
