Wi-Fi Sensitivity

Today Fiona writes:
I have severe problems with Wi-Fi. I have year round problems with itchy, dark-pigmented, sticky eyelids when around Wi-Fi. I have seasonal allergies, sneezing, but only suffered with the eyelid problem when we installed Wi-Fi in the house (which became year round). It is really debilitating. I went into a cell phone shop and my eyelids turned red immediately and started to itch. At last we have taken the Wi-Fi out of our house so at least I have some refuge. Yes, EMFs are a problem - I thought all the talk about EMF sensitivity was rubbish until I started with it. People should take it seriously, I believe that there are people with far worse health problems than me and to Wi-Fi whole cities without doing intensive research studies is unethical.
To be honest, I am still out with the jury on this one. Despite what many appear to be suffering with, this has been proven to be as definitive as cell phone-caused cancer. In short, I am just not sure who to believe here. Not that I question some very serious symptoms or that they are really happening to people, I am just not sure how to best address the problem.
For me, I see this as another fluoride in the water debate, something we see a lot of in Washington state. The concern over possible side effects is there, but how do we safely measure benefit of many over the risk of very, very few? I think this will have to be decided with a little more time behind the research at this point. Still, I am sure you have opinions on this matter. Do you have an IT-related question? Perhaps you are just burnt out on writing on the walls with crayons? Whatever the comments may be, drop me a line, and you too can “Just Ask Matt!” Please address comments to the comments section above, my email address is for questions - thanks!

I too have Wi-fi sensitivity. I had to check Fiona’s comments to see if I had not previously written the piece myself some time ago. I have the sticky, itchy eyelids and dark pigmentation. I took the Wi-fi out of my house and also CFL’s which seem to be a problem. On researching I found two things. That water is a good conductor of radio waves, hence the reason why eyelids are affected and secondly, it is when data is transfered through the wi-fi that the problem occurs. Unfortunately, wi-fi equipment band-width is so good that I get next doors into the house. Going into computer/electronic stores and cell phone stores is really painful. I know this sounds like garbage but I really have done all alternative tests, including dermatology, allergy tests and no doctor can explain to me why this has happened. I would like to contact Fiona and swap information etc. My research revealed two things: water is a good conductor of electricity, hence why the eyelid is sensitive and secondly, it is not wi-fi in itself but when data is being transfered when the problem appears.
