Not a chance. Having lived through the "good old days" of dial-up, I'm too spoiled now by Road Runner service to go back to it.

Don't know if you count it as "equivalent"... but if you find the 600kbps UP / 1300kbps DOWN (varies) speeds of wireless broadband acceptable --- you are able to consider alot more locations.

I don't get cable, DSL or fiber... so I find EVDO to be the best choice for me (over dial-up and satellite).

Good luck at your new house!

I am currently getting ready to move out of my current DSL area, I hate going into an area without any broadband available, but I just got it 2 years ago anyway.
In rural Missouri (or any rural area) we get to sit back and see the urban areas with a choice of broadband and the new services like FiOS going into areas where those alternative services are available, I guess they follow the money where the larger customer bases are and then fight for a piece of the pie.
I for one though, will not let technology control me but make it work for me, don't get me wrong, high speed internet is important for me, but I will find an alternative even if I have home brew some sort of long range wifi.
I enjoy living in the country and I guess that takes priority for me over whatever services I can gain by living in a more populated area.
