Well, it seems your elected members are rather more clued up and willing to work than our British versions.
There has been scant coverage of this in the US (and I have been warning you about it too), but members of your government have finally picked up on it. Over here in the UK there are loads of geeks writing to every government member and organisation that would be remotely connected to this; we have some newspapers providing coverage (we have even gotten one of their customers to sever ties with phorm) and a load of geek news sites covering it in far greater detail. All — ALL — of our governmental entities are washing their hands of it and playing pass the idiot!
We’ve had illegal snooping of Web browsing to the tune of possibly 100,000 completely without their consent or even their knowledge and still our government refuses to even talk about it. Mind you, when you notice that members of our government hold directorships at some of the companies involved you begin to notice just how rotten this really is here in the UK.
I implore you to get the word out to the rest of your audience because this is a complete violation of your privacy and is currently going on across your country. Fight this thing, as it seems only the geeks are fighting it here in the UK since it appears to have our government’s damn blessing!

I don’t care how you look at it, an op-out system is wrong and confusing for most users. As a tech, I see this daily. If they want to track you, then it should be an op-in only, and before any one op-in, they better be willing to make allowances by paying me in some way either through lower cost of internet, or something similar.
Where do these people think spying on computer usage is a service?

Oh well! Surveillance societies are not only possible; they’re inevitable. Check your history books!
