Mechanical Stuff Sucks And Other Observations

Someone kick me, but I must be reliving Monday over and over here. Yesterday my lawnmower dies. So I opted to upgrade to something a bit more hassle free as I grew tired of smelling like a gas pump every time I needed to mow the lawn. Outside of the battery life needing to be a little longer, it is enough to do both my lawns and does a really great job. Electric mowers have come a LONG ways.
Then I receive an email from the financing dept handing our first home loan - they need info that I apparently, do not have. While it sounds like it can be worked around, it proved to be a MASSIVE headache thus far. I spent hours looking for the needed info, but came up short.
Then today, while driving down the freeway - my “gosh-darn” (actually said something else at the time) car opted to blue-screen on me as I was coming off an exit. It appears to be electrical, but will no more later I suppose. Because I am buying a new home, I am really not too interested in seeking out a new car at this time. Sure, I could go all eco-friendly and get on the hybrid scene, but right now I am honestly considering keeping this car as it is really not all that old. Being as I work from home, I really do not need car all the time. So I will have to see what the mechanic suggests. But mark my words, if I find it to be an electrical issue again, time for another car! But alas, it may very well be a fuel filter that got clogged or some sensor that went bonkers. This is what I get for buying an American car…and that pains me as I prefer to buy American whenever possible.
Have you had days like this? Perhaps you have found that when stuff like this happens, it takes place all at once. Whatever it may be, hit the comments, I would love to hear you vent.

Go “green” out of the goodness of your heart, don’t do it for the rebate! I was just reading an article about the Federal law that states that once a manufacturer sells a certain number of Hybrids, you don’t get a rebate from the IRS!

sorry to post a comment, but I can’t find a contact us e-mail address anywhere on your site? I have a question regarding the format of the e-mail newsletter I read every day(ish).

Alaina: The email address is limited to the category/posting for Just Ask Matt, as often people send some really awesome comments that I would rather see here being shared with everyone than sent to my inbox.
But since you have a Just Ask Matt question it sounds like: matt@lockergnome.com

As for general formatting. Yeah, every email client is going to make it look different and in some cases, things do not come out right. We are encouraging people to use the RSS feeds whenever possible as it is faster, more reliable and frankly, better.
Just click subscribe at the top of the page.

Why not replace it with a manual reel mower? No gas, no electricity, no problems.

Monday, yea… I’ll see your Monday and raise it one -:-}
Went into the garage Monday AM and found the water heater was piddling all over the floor.
Ok, clean up, cut the H2O heater out of the pipes & wire. Ready to jump into the truck for a purchase trip to H. Depot.. Yep, right front truck tire was really flat (just on the bottom though). Then the storm came over…. etc….

Because I am lazy. Why fight it? :)

Andy: Ouch, I think you win…and win and win on that one. Water heater leaks are the worst. And a storm too? Man, I thought I was having a bad day!

If you get past the media hype of so called foreign car reliability and start looking at actual figures on recalls and what not, you will find that domestic brands are just as reliable.
