Is That A Wi-Fi Hotspot In Your Pocket?

Mobile broadband is simply not as accessible as it really should be. And based on what I am reading here, it seems to me that being able to setup a ready to roll Wi-Fi hotspot with my own phone holds a lot to be desired.

The only area this might be a little sticky is where the wireless carriers themselves stand on the issue. According to the piece at BetaNews, Sprint appears to be the only mobile carrier to give something like this a green light. So buyer beware!

What do you think? Is the ability to create a mini-Wi-Fi hotspot with your mobile phone enough to switch carriers or at the very least, use software that might make such a wireless undertaking possible? Hit the comments, share your thoughts.

Seeing as how I’m paying $100/month for a seperate data plan, I’d say yes– I would switch.

Sounds like a good idea to me. If there’s no hotspot at a respective location, it’s great if you can create your own.

Absolutely brilliant idea. Cellular backhaul with a pocket-sized transmitter. Wow.
