Time To Redo The Vudu?

I have been writing on and off about the Vudu for sometime now. And to be honest, would still be open to testing one out should they ever bother to ask me to review the box for them. On loan, of course. But I have to question the wisdom of Vudu selling HD movie downloads when in reality, they look a LOT like the standard def variety.

Am I nuts here, or has Gizmodo pointed out something that has long since needed to be said?

Quote: A lot of people (including Steve Jobs) like to talk about the imminent arrival of HD downloads, a magic talisman that will help peace-loving technophiles avoid the atrocities of the last shiny-silver-disc format war. But as we’ve discussed and others have researched, bandwidth, and not resolution, determine final quality.

Look at the images yourself - can you see the difference between Vudu’s HD and SD picture? I know I sure cannot. On the other side of the coin, I will applaud Vudu for adding the bandwidth advisor for their potential customers. It may not fully prove the lack of value in offering HD downloadable movies, but at the very least people will be buying their boxes in full knowledge that their Internet connection is fast enough to support it.
