Is Best Buy About To Put CompUSA Out Of Its Misery?

This is not something that makes me feel very good about this time of year. I too, heard about this before seeing this article stating something similar to what I suspected was coming.
Is Best Buy the cause? Partially I suspect, yes. I see a similar fate for Circuit City in the near future as well unless they can differentiate themselves. Because thus far, they simply have not. Maybe I am just just feeling cynical about the whole thing, but it just seems like Best Buy is benefiting from the misfortune of companies struggling with poor management and even worse marketing.
Even considering Best Buy’s terrible press with Geek Squad, it appears that they will indeed, come out on top here.

Is Best Buy the cause? Well, I would give a qualified “yes.” By that, I simply mean that Best Buy (and Circuit City) just do things better. Before all the Southern California CompUSA stores closed (around 6 months ago), I gave them every opportunity for my business. The problem is that their prices… even the sale prices… were consistently much higher than the competition. Also, the service I received in the stores was unbelievably bad… no help to be found.
I assumed they were going entirely to the internet. Unfortunately, the prices still remain high (despite the reduced overhead). If you want to stay in business, you need to be the best in SOMETHING… or at least be competitive across the board. They failed in every respect, so their business is dying.

My sister works in the CompUSA corporate office here in Dallas, and was informed earlier this evening that they will be closing the office beginning on Monday. Obviously they will keep a skeleton crew on hand for a longer period of time, until everything is finalized, but it seems the rumors are in fact true!
