Is It True? Spam Is Slowing Down?

When I first read the news about Google claiming that spam was slowing down, I was sure that it must be some sort of typo. No, they meant it. And as far as Gmail is concerned, it is highly likely that spammers have indeed, slowed down some.
All that said, I certainly do not believe for a single minute that this means that spam is heading the way of some extinct animal. A quick Google query indicates that spam is indeed, on the rise. Perhaps rather than a drop, we are merely seeing spammers becoming more sly with their spam targets? Ah, now this makes a lot more sense.
What do you think? Will spam continue to rise as as spam sent to Gmail continues to drop? You be the judge.

My gmail account has been running about 90% spam for the past year. Spam will never really stop until some aggressive action is taken against at least one spammer. My spam seems to be dominated by at most 3 or 4 spam kings. One selling “Canadian pharmacy” that is really centered in Hong Kong, and another selling counterfeit watches account for about 80%. Why are these folks so hard to find???? or stop??? Is it because no one really cares to stop spam because they are getting too fat from selling time to these guys? (corrupt ISP’s) or are they getting fat from selling SPAM blocking software (M$, Symantec, etc.)??

I don’t know what did it, maybe you know something about this, but for years my Yahoo account’s bulk mail would get a deluge of spam. Maybe 100 per day at worst, but it was constant.
Now all of a sudden, within this last month, spam has dropped off considerably, like I might get 7 in a day, and I can go hours without getting a single one. It’s amazing, I was constantly emptying my bulk mail folder and now there’s almost nothing anymore.
I didn’t change a single setting and I don’t think Yahoo would take it upon themselves to decide to not deliver the bulk mail, considering sometimes my regular mail would inadvertently wind up in there.
Has there been a crackdown on spam sources lately?
