Today, Padmini asks:
I want to get and alert on my mobile when I get a new mail into my Gmail inbox. is that possible? if yes , how?
Thank you
This actually a fairly common question. Unfortunately, the device in question is important as it does vary greatly as to which way is the best for this person’s mobile device. So in light of all that, I am going to try and provide a very generic answer.
If you happen to be a Windows Mobile user, like me, you might simply opt for using the built in email client and the IMAP functionality that Gmail now provides on specific platforms.
Another option, while not as elegant, might be the Gmail application for various mobile devices. Either way, there are options out there for pretty much everyone.
Do you have an IT-related question? Perhaps you are just burnt out on writing on the walls with crayons? Whatever the comments may be, drop me a line, and you too can “Just Ask Matt!”

Well another idea is under your Gmail options, you can also forward your email, and you can have it forwarded to your phone’s email address. For example, If you have a verizon phone, the email would be 1234567890@vtext.com. For tmobile, I believe it is 1234567890@tmomail.net.
