Technology - Today And Forever?

  • No Related Post

Each of us take it for granted. Access to everyday technology that enables us to do what we need to do on any given day. For instance, today my mom calls me from here bookstore in Bellingham, WA. She explains that people are having a difficult time connecting to the Internet and after she looked into it further, she discovered that hard wired connections were also showing no connectivity. After logging into our Sputnik server account, I discovered that the router was indeed, down. I then asked her to unplug the box to restart it and shortly there after the Sputnik router displayed on the control panel as live again. It was an easy fix and I was even able to help a specific user, login to the bookstore wifi account, in real time, in the visual sense. Isn’t technology grand?

But what would the world be like if we lost all of this? No routers, no Internet, not even a phone to call someone on. Earlier today, I took a trip into this world and let me say this loud and clear - this is the way to capture an audience! Wow!

See, Afterworld is not some lame CGI flick with little to no story plot. It’s well written, the voice overs are spectacular and you can really tell that the project has been well bankrolled. And please, do not compare this to Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. This blows it out of the water.

Once you get into this series, you will actually find yourself being able to listen to the voice overs without actually needing to view the episodes themselves. It’s like old time radio meets CGI! I am really excited about this. Would encourage each of you to give this a shot, I think you will find it quite a change from the usual drivel on TV these days.

Matt,

Thanks for the write up. Afterworld was born out of my fears of a world without technology. I wanted the audience to live vicariously through Shoemaker, to ask themselves what they would do in such a situation and, more importantly, are they prepared for radical change?

But I also wanted it to be a good, old fashioned adventure. And I appreciate that you see the radio drama aspect as a positive (not everyone does.) We’ve actually thought of it as an audio slideshow, a digitial graphic novel, and a new form - American animé. If you enjoy this series, please check out one of our primary inspirations: “La Jetté”. Just Google it and, if you can find a copy, enjoy the power of suggestion.
