The Future Of Video Editing?

Could tools like this be the future of video editing? I tend to question this myself, as I am not at all convinced that in its current form that today’s web based editing tools are as reliable as we will see on the local level. Even if Google was to step into this arena, the problems that they would face from a support perspective would fast suck up any thrill to be had from such an endeavor.
Even solutions like Jumpcut, while very ‘Web 2.0″ in feel, have a ways to go outside of their own limited community. We need to see online options comparable with software like Adobe Premiere Elements, among others. My reason for holding out hope here is to eventually see something that removes the platform barriers put into place by both Microsoft and Apple.
Once we arrive at a point where online applications can truly provide the same level of value as offline apps, then perhaps we will see a greater adoption beyond the office applications that Google has provided to us. What do you think? Will this day ever arrive?

Not a chance that will happen.
