Speeding Up Firefox - It’s Easy!

Understanding completely that they have had offerings to speed up Firefox for what seems like forever now, the best solutions are the ones found here. Now granted, the article is dated and some of these fixes may already be added into the latest releases. But one that I found that made a world of difference for me was to kill off the network prefetch nonsense.
In your Firefox address bar, go to:
about:config
Then locate:
network.prefetch-next
set it to false, rather than true. And that’s it! You are welcome to verify that the other settings are in tune, but like I said, this was a dated article, so they very well may already be toggled over for you. Do you have some helpful Firefox tips to better its performace? Hit us up with your comments in the comments section of this post!

I read this before, but evrytime I try it, it says it’s not a valid URL. So what am I doing wrong?

PJ: Are you talking about
about:config
…as a valid URL?
Just make sure you paste it in EXACTLY as you see it in the article.

Thanks Matt, that worked. Must have put a space after the colon. Now to see if it’s faster???

PJ: Great to hear.:) Still, mileage may vary as I am speaking of using Firefox on my Ubuntu machine.

I’ve got on Suse on another PC, but we’re having T-storms right so I think I’ll wait til this weekend to try it. My connection is so bad that I’m not sure it will help much, but at least it hasn’t made it slower on XP! Anyway, thanks again.
