Hi I have just began using Gmail after using Yahoo! for several years. I am not very IT lit, however I did like the very fact that when a new message arrived on Yahoo! it seem to have some sort of alarm which would sound if you were on the computer or once you had switched it on. Can you advise does Gmail have such a system?
Well, I can think of several ways to regain an audible/visual alert for Gmail. The easiest way is to do the following. Download and install this program. It’s coming from Google, so you know what you are getting yourself into. Once it is installed, you may wish to reboot your PC, just to make sure everything is updated. Then just do the following:
Click the Mail icon.
Click the Gmail tab.
Select a sound from the New Mail Sound drop-down menu*.
And that’s it, nothing else to it – it’s just that simple. I hope this helps you out some.
Do you have an IT-related question? Perhaps you are just burnt out on writing on the walls with crayons? Whatever the comments may be, drop me a line and you, too, can “Just Ask Matt!”
