Windows For The Poor

Well it’s about time. Not because I have a vested interest mind you, but because Microsoft was truly mistaken if it thought that the OLPC project was simply a passing fad. In response to this event coming from the Linux side of the fence, Microsoft is releasing what it calls the Microsoft Student Innovation Suite. Now don’t get me wrong, I support this effort completely, but I seem to be missing the links explaining how it is going to be providing hardware to run this software?
But assuming Microsoft can overcome this hardware availability issue, it could see some success here. And maybe Microsoft Unlimited Potential has access to vendors that can match what we are seeing happen with the OLPC project.
So what do you think? Can Microsoft make this happen successfully against the the OLPC project and other projects like it? Do they have access to hardware to make this vision a resounding success? I am definitely interested in any progress that can be reported on this matter.
