Apple may have just hit the next big thing with their intentions of taking this “multi-touch technology” to their already impressive line of hardware products. How long until any of this new mutli-touch hardware makes into our hands? We could be waiting for a while. As far a way as 3-5 years for many consumer products, although there is promise of seeing this new offering making its way into the Mac sometime in 2008.

Still lost as to what the heck multi-touch actually is or even offers? You have likely seen one example already. While the new offerings yet to be released will likely be more advanced, the iPod’s click-wheel is one example of this technology at work. Now considering this as Joe Consumer - imagine Apple with this technology in most of the products. The remember how well received the click-wheel was received once people were able to understand its value. Things look like they are going to be getting interesting during the next couple of years.
