CallWave Flash Back

I could hardly believe this product was still around, what with broadband becoming so commonplace these days. But sure enough, it looks as if CallWave is still out there and kicking. Man, it seems like just a short time ago I was using them pre-broadband to manage my own incoming phone calls on a shared phone line. What’s interesting is that it seems like CallWave has “grown up” so to speak, to include users outside of the dial-up arena. An interesting move for a company that I have not thought of in many, many years. Perhaps they will one day move away from dial-up completely?
Unfortunately, the only item they are offering right now that caught my eye was the visual voicemail monitor based on the PC. Apparently, it allows you to sift through voicemail coming in from your mobile phone on your desktop. Definitely something of interest there, although it may not have a lot of staying power in the longterm.

So what do you think? Is this technology still of value to enough people to warrant further development for using a paid service to manage phone calls? Use the comment area above, I would be interested in your thoughts.

Hi, I use CallWave and really like this program. I only have the basic but that is very helpful. I know when I get a call when I am on-line—that way I can see if I need to immediately get off the internet and make a call. Thanks, Sandy BTW—I do have “DIAL-UP” and would probably upgrade if I could afford it every month!!!!!!!!

A good portion (about 20%) of my customers are still on dial-up. For them it is money issue as they are of the older generation. There is only so much money coming in per month, so these people have to really watch what goes out per month. With this group, it is an issue that there is a balancing act because of so much money has to be spent on drugs, rent, food, they all come first.

As you, I have used CallWave in the past, nearly since its inception. I had
tried a few other like functionality programs with poor results. The
implementation of CW features and functions were in my estimation, always well thought out and very professional.
Even after moving to broadband, there is still one function that I pay my
minimalistic fee for. You guessed it, FAX as a PDF with notification via
e-mail. Thank You CallWave!

Callwave’s voice mail functionality is great for road warriors like me. I am a consultant and use Callwave for my business phone. It gets directed to my mobile phone when on the road, or house phone at home. Having voice mail sent to my PC where I can listen to it is great and i like the fax to PDF feature. But the greatest feature is having one phone number that never changes. I can change mobile phone carriers, my house phone or just different phones and my work number never changes.

I do wish that they would add an outgoing fax feature to their service though.
