If there is one guarantee this time of year, it’s that the roadways of the US and Canada are a mess to deal with. And with crazy driving conditions comes even crazier drivers, oftentimes crazy to the point of dangerous.
In the past, our ability to respond to driving stupidity had been limited to offering a single finger gesture or better yet, screaming insults as we pass the driver by. But let’s be honest here. As satisfying as this may seem at the time, it really goes to serve no one. A smarter and perhaps more effective approach is to deal with problem drivers head on. This is where PlateWire comes in. Finally, a home for the most annoying drivers out there on the road!
At first glance, I’ll admit that the Web site design is a little “off” in a couple of places. However, once its designers understand the value of tagging specific types of behavior and simply clean up the UI in general, I believe that this site could prove to be an interesting social experiment.
On the list of features not yet available that I’d love to see? Text America-like functionality for camera-phone picture uploads of problem drivers, text alerts of problem drivers based on your current positioning given by TomTom (or whatever GPS solution you like) to use.
What do you think? Did I miss anything?
