RockXP allows you to retrieve your XP product key that you used when you installed Windows XP, as well as keys for other Microsoft products. This can come in very handy if you need to reinstall but have misplaced or lost the CD cover with the serial sticker.
In addition, the program lets you save the product activation to a file, recover usernames and passwords contained in the Windows Secure Storage, as well as MSN logins, Internet connection parameters, and more.

HI, I’ve been following you for years now. I’ve also been using RockXP3 for a couple of years, without incident. When I downloaded RockXP4, my Symantec AV Corporate Edition 10.1 tagged it Hacktool.pwdump and Quarantined it. :-(
Not that I don’t trust the software, but the new features aren’t worth the hassle of getting SAV to ignore it. Shame. I’ve found RockXP very useful on a good number of occasions
Hope the author will patch it, and hope you’ll feature the clean version

My AV AVG also picks up hacktool and Posible unwanted software. It picks up the pwdump2 file. this is what dumps the nt hash files and makes it possible for the program to show you the user names and then the passwords on your machine.
What you really need to be careful of is if your computer fully supports Data Execution Prevention (DEP). When pwdump trys to run, it accesses the LSASS.exe file. DEP stops it and you get a “windows will be shutting down in 30 seconds” message. Don’t Panic! you do not have a worm. click Start-Run- and type cmd
In a CMD window type shutdown -a which aborts the shutdown.
Reboot and windows will tell you that LSASS was shutdown but one more reboot and you will be alright.
You can continue to use the RockXP just not the show user passwords feature.

if you read the developer site you will not that it states the it does by some virus detectors get picked up as a hack/virus, and for all purpose that is what the program does, hacks the registry to gather the requested information
