OpenLogic Taps The Open Source Community

Well it’s about time someone is finally doing this on a grander scale. I learned today that OpenLogic is taking a bounty type approach to jump starting the Open Source community and their applications as well. While the article claims that this is something new, it really doesn’t feel all that different that the bounty programs that I’ve seen within the Open Source world for a few years now.
So now the real question - has it worked? If you consider a 62 percent growth rate viable, then I’d say the effort has been a huge success.
To be honest, there are many areas where the Open Source community could use an ounce of common sense, but when you consider Mozilla, Participatory Culture Foundation, and Songbird among others, Open Source projects can be a booming endeavor with the proper motivation. Let’s face it, sometimes that means tossing a little cash around for good measure.
