D-Link Might Have Just Won Me Back

I’ll be honest here, I have yet to find a consumer level router brand that has even approached impressing me. Usually, this routine starts off with me spending a fair amount of coin on one brand or another. Even after doing a ton of research, it takes about a month or so to find a few different things that leave me feeling like I have been hosed with overall performance of the router I purchased.
Then I bought a new router for my gaming-fanatic brother as Christmas is just around the corner. After doing some homework, I decided on going with the D-Link 4300. What are my impressions thus far? Very positive overall. It has solid multitasking performance in addition to one of the better Web-based user interfaces that I have seen in a very long time.
When considering the turbo boost offered by D-Link’s router, then rolling that up with functions and options from a strong, Web-based UI, I believe that we have a fairly strong router. Having said this, I suppose the real question will come down to how many router-related resets will be needed and D-Link’s legendary heat issues.
Still, so far I am rather impressed.

Matt,
The most common complaint (on epinions) about this router seems to be incompatibility with other manufacturer’s wireless adapters. Are you using D-Link throughout, or have you found that the incompatibility problems have been resolved?

PLEASE don’t go to the ‘dark side,’ Matt… D-Link products have let me down more than once.. Both Netgear and Hawking Tech have irked me, as well. At least Belkin has a much better warranty, and free tech support.
What the previous poster mentioned about compatibility is definitely an issue if you’re employing technologies before they’re finalzed, and ‘on the street.’ As long as you’ve got the same brand throughout, no matter how tentative the “standard,” at least the same brand components should all talk to each other..
