Compaq Notebooks At Wal-Mart

  • No Related Post

Today I was reading about how Wal-Mart has been offering Compaq notebooks for $398. Even more shocking was the potential for seeing the prices dropping even more by “Black Friday.” How much, you ask? How about a brand new notebook for around $199.

Now let’s stop, take a deep breath, and begin the descent back to planet Earth here. When you buy a product such as a notebook for $199, you are generally going to end up with $199 worth of notebook. In short, it’s going to be a real pile.

If you are budget-minded and want to buy a new notebook that will actually have a better shot at outlasting the holiday season, then you might want to consider getting a Dell.

Its notebooks are really not my thing personally, but I can promise you that a Dell is going to blow the doors off of a $199 “craptacular” model coming from Wally-World any day of the week. Just my thinking, anyway.

I just purchased an Acer Aspire 1642WLMi at Walmart for $398. This notebook was originally $648. Some of the features ar Intel Pentium M 740 1.73 ghz, 15.4″ wide screen WXGA, 512 DDR2 ram, 80GB hdd, and DVD dual layer burner. I think that is a pretty good deal even if it is coming from Walmart. The cheapest I could find in a comparable notebook on Dell was the Inspiron B130. It has a Pent M at 1.6 ghz, 14.1″ screen,512 DDR2 ram, 40GB hdd, and 24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive.

What Do You Think?
