GCalSync – Google Calendar Just Became Useful
In my continued Linux adventures, it still amazes me (and I have spoken to a number of devs about this) that Bluetooth is not more aggressively developed for with this platform. Why you ask? Simple, because it would bypass so much proprietary BS that it’s not even funny. More on this later in the week along with a file sharing trick that is going to make a lot of Samba users slap their foreheads.
No, today is a happy day, that is if I owned a another phone. Today I discovered something fantastic called GcalSync and this puppy quite literally allows you to sync Google calendar with your mobile phone’s calendar! Sorry Windows Mobile users, it appears to be a no go for us. But should you use a Nokia, Moto, BlackBerry, or even a Sony-Erickson phone, chances are you will be keeping in sync with your Google calendar in no time.
Having said this, I am very interested in hearing from anyone out there who owns a Cingular 8125 Pocket PC and has been able to get this to work. I suspect that I have simply forgotten to install something really obvious first, but perhaps I am just out of luck here? Hey, I’d love to hear about any solutions that the Lockergnome readers might have. Talk to you tomorrow!
