More Fun Than Functionality

Have you ever wondered if gadgets are more about “fun” rather than “fun-tionality?” This occurred to me today as I was showing off my new iPod nano to someone and they mentioned that it seems like most of the gadgets I own are more fun than functionality.
That really struck me. Am I simply a gadget addict hooked on the need to consistently be plugged in? Eh, perhaps so. But as addictions go, this one is a lot of fun! I mean, is it all that harmful to spend our free time and money on the latest gadget if it proves to be entertaining? I think not.
