The animated TECHTip Tutorial is available here.
RF [Radio Frequency] signals consist of both electrical and magnetic fields summed added together to create an EM [Electro-Magnetic] field. This EM field creates an oscillation effect resulting from the interaction between the E-Plane or parallel plane to the antenna and the H-Plane or perpendicular plane to the antenna.
Depending on the design of the antenna, if the EM field is parallel to the earth, this is Horizontal Polarization. If the EM field is perpendicular (900 degrees vertical) to the earth, this is Vertical Polarization.
