To Notebook Or Not
Have you ever run into a situation where a friend of yours is asking for advice on whether to go one way or another with a tech product and deciding on a definitive answer is next to impossible?
Well today I ran into this when a friend of mine questioned me as to the value of going with a wireless setup when they are considering going from their existing desktop PC to something a little more mobile friendly. In truth, it was a hardware concern rather than the network itself. You know, like a PCMCIA card versus a PCI card.
We went back and forth a number of times and rather than opting for the PCI wireless card for the home PC, they decided that going along with an upgrade to a notebook made the most sense. They can then low-level format the hard drive, then give away the PC to someone who might need it.
I think in the end, this made the most sense. Rather than spending money for a PCI wireless card for less than a few months, it just seems like a better choice to bite the bullet and buy the notebook now, then work on setting up that wireless network later on.
In the end, I suppose that it’s simply a matter of priorities, is it not? See you all tomorrow!
