Microsoft Woes: Is The EU Being Overbearing?

Is the EU being overbearing? Regardless of what we may think, they have made their position clear with regard to Microsoft’s security features to be included in the upcoming Vista release of Windows.

Apparently, the continued concerns are stemming from their tough anti-trust laws. In many respects, this may further open the door for open source operating systems in the EU. Linux for instance, has made enormous strides in this part of the world and is likely to continue its unprecedented growth.

On the other side of the same coin, I suspect that many businesses and home users will likely be perfectly alright with sticking with XP. I mean, for the average user, there is simply not a clear reason for them to bother with the hassle of upgrading.

As for the enterprise user however, that is something that each individual origination is going to have to grapple with I am afraid. Regardless, I suspect most of the decisions have already been made much to Microsoft’s dismay.

What are your thoughts? Does Microsoft a chance of working their way out of this EU issue? Just as importantly, why are we not see more of this problem elsewhere? Is the EU the only region concerned about Microsoft’s security features? Ah, only time will tell I suppose…

What Do You Think?
