It’s Phishing Season - Again!

I have been reading a number of articles lately indicating that recent phishing attacks seem to be targeting mobile users. Is this a possible shift in the tide? Or instead, a short trend that will soon return to the norm of PC related phishing attacks? Speaking for myself, I suspect that we will see equal branching out and both platforms will continue to see some solid growth from these criminals.

Maybe one solution is to start putting a bounty on the jerks that instigate these treacherous attacks and let street justice take its course? Honestly, the only downside that I can see to this type of solution would be the potential for an attack on someone who is misidentified as a “phisherman”.

Perhaps instead, it’s time for the world’s governments to try again at working together to further push forth strong enforcement against this type of identity theft activity. This may sound like a pipe dream to some, but for those of us receiving the phone calls from people who have had their identity stolen, it may be our only hope.
