Perhaps I am missing something here, but I think that social search is still very much in development. Granted, concept ideas still in Alpha are interesting, but I believe that they may find themselves battling brand over ability in the long term. Most people are very happy with Google and even if another search engine can offer more features or even better results, they still have their work cut out for themselves.

So now we are left to wonder: what is the future of start-ups like ChaCha. That and can they honestly carve out a market in a marketplace where the average user is perfectly content with the results that they are currently receiving? Ah, now that is the real question, is it not?

Now for the question of the day. Do you believe that ChaCha and others like it honestly have a snowballs chance in heck of turning people onto Google alternatives. Or are they instead, simply wasting their time?
