Mobility Sells, But Who's Buying?

In the past, we have touched some on amazing lack of understanding that the mobile world has given to the mainstream mobile user. And by mobile user, I am talking about people who want to take their “day” with them, but are either forced to spend a fortune or end up with a device that is not intuitive in a way that they understand.

Over the years, I have seen this become very apparent with non-techie types and mobile phones. I often hear them explain that they “must be stupid” because the interface that they are presented with does not make sense to them. But in reality, is it not the mobile company that created the phone who may not be hitting an obvious niche market that they choose to ignore in favor of the high ticket items instead?

Why not create a Smart Phone for people who don’t feel smart when using these devices? I mean, otherwise intelligent people often times come away frustrated and I simply cannot believe that this is something that is going to correct itself in just a matter of a couple of years. The fact is that there is an apparent gap here, don’t you agree?

Let’s hear your take on this. Hit the email link above and tell me what your thoughts are on this. Is it that people are simply not trying hard enough to “get” these new technologies? Or instead, do the companies that create many of these mobile devices need to simply wake up and listen to a growing niche market that is screaming for an equal shot at the “cool phones”? You be the judge…
